Ocean Sports Tuition’s online courses can teach you some new skills during your spare time for you to put into practice when lockdown is over.

Although our Southampton base is temporarily closed and we are not currently offering face-to-face tuition, why not sign up for one of our online RYA qualifications?  As an official RYA training facility, Ocean Sports Tuition is encouraging its customers to #SailFromHome using a host of resources provided by the RYA, including this Virtual Regatta. Whether you are completely new to boating or a seasoned sailor, we have a course for you.

RYA VHF Radio Course – Online

As the only compulsory course required for boaters in the UK, learning to operate on-board radios is an essential skill for anyone wishing to charter their own boat. The online format of this course can be completed at your leisure with the full support of RYA approved instructors via email.

RYA Essential Seamanship & Navigation Course – Online

If you’re a beginner looking to further your knowledge of safety and navigation, this course is for you. Providing a basic understanding of chart work, tides, rules of the road and passage planning, this course is a great building block with which to begin your learning.

RYA Day Skipper Theory Course – Online

For those with more experience looking to consolidate and grow their knowledge, the RYA Day Skipper Theory Course is the perfect way to gain confidence as a skipper. The topics covered in this great course include:

  • Basic seamanship

  • Collison regulations

Offering a solid foundation of theory knowledge, this course includes 40 hours of online learning which you can study at your own pace, and full support from qualified instructors.

RYA Coastal Skipper/ Yachtmaster Theory Course – Online

For students wishing to attend a Yachtmaster or Coastal Skipper Practical week, the online theory course is the perfect theoretical foundation to prepare you for practical training. This more advanced course covers the following topics:
