What You Will Learn: Basic knowledge & understanding of meteorology, tides, anchoring, buoyage, rules on the water, and more.

The RYA Essential Seamanship and Navigation Course is designed to give students an understanding of navigation in a fun and safe environment.

This course focuses on developing your understanding of chart work, tides, rules of the road and passage planning. It will help enhance your knowledge as a boater and will hopefully give you that little bit extra confidence to go to that harbour or creek that you’ve always wanted to go to.

You have 2 ways to undertake this course, in your own time online or face-to-face with an Ocean Sports Tuition instructor at our classroom in Southampton.

SUMMARY

SUMMARY

This course provides a basic understanding of safety and navigation afloat. Students who have completed the RYA Start Yachting Course or RYA Powerboat Level 2 and are seeking more knowledge will find this course suitable. Ocean Sports Tuition has delivered this course since inception and has found it to be very useful for students of all abilities.

The course schedule is Saturday & Sunday from 09:00 – 17:00.

  I attended Ocean Sports after a recommendation to do my Advanced Powerboat with them. Ian the instructor was on point with the course and really experianced.
Facilities and boats are good and modern.
Night Nav and unlight location are a very good learning curve especially in the solent.

  Just completed my Powerboat level 2 course with Ocean Sports, Oliver was our instructor and honestly he was amazing, such a nice, patient and professional guy. I knew the course would be a lot of fun anyway but Oliver made it even better. Thanks a lot guys, I'll be back!

Andy Murray, the manager, went above and beyond, with service excellence, offering me exceptional, unique, personalised development and coaching, which I completed with Andy and Josh to further develop my knowledge, skills and confidence. I completed both my PB2 (Instructors: Ollie and Ramos) and PB Intermediate (Instructors: Andy and Trish) with Ocean Sports Tuition. We also completed a fantastic Axopar experience with Andrew, At first I was apprehensive and all the Instructors were extremely welcoming, patient and understanding (and offered refreshments).
