RYA First Aid Course

The one day RYA First Aid Course is a great course for any boater, a must for anyone looking to commercially endorse any RYA practical certificate.

The RYA First Aid Course differs to “normal” First Aid courses, as you will look at specific injuries that may happen afloat, including treatments for hypothermia, cold water shock, sea sickness, dehydration as well as looking at the recovery position for a confined spaces.

Do I need previous experience?

No, this course is suitable for all students. The course is aimed at equipping you with the skills to administer first aid as a skipper or as a crew member.

What will I learn?

This RYA First Aid Course is designed for sailors and watersports participants, covering realistic first aid required whilst afloat, subjects covered will include:

  • Casualty assessment and secondary assessment
  • CPR
  • Chain of survival
  • Choking
  • Recovery position
  • Respiratory system
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Asthma
  • Chest trauma
  • Panic attacks
  • Circulatory system
  • Minor injuries
  • Crush injuries
  • Eye injuries
  • Burns
  • Broken and dislocated bones
  • Hypothermia & heat exhaustion

The certificate is valid from three years from date of issue.

This course costs £100 plus VAT per person. Private basis costs are £399*
