What’s more, the RYA Sea Survival training is a recognised qualification for anyone looking to become crew or a commercial skipper, and is essential for the operation of commercial vessels.

This vital ocean safety course is also required for those seeking commercial endorsement on a Certificate of Competence or RYA Yachmaster Qualification.

Our expert instructors will teach you everything you need to know about marine survival to keep you safe at sea during our practical sessions, including basic sea survival skills, how to construct and use the contents of a life raft and its safety equipment, and search and rescue techniques.

This 1-day RYA course runs between 0930 – 1700.

Private courses also available any day from 0930 – 1700: (POA).

This course is designed for complete beginners and seasoned boaters alike.

This 1 day course for RYA Sea Survival on the Solent with Ocean Sports will teach you the following: basic sea survival techniques, life raft contents, construction of a life raft, different types of life rafts, search and rescue techniques along with life jacket types.

You will also get real life experience of being in a life raft (in the safety of a supervised swimming pool) and where possible have practical use of live flares.

Your day will include a pool session and a classroom session to learn the practical and theoretical skills of how to survive an emergency situation at sea, including during heavy weather and stormy circumstances.

  I attended Ocean Sports after a recommendation to do my Advanced Powerboat with them. Ian the instructor was on point with the course and really experianced.
Facilities and boats are good and modern.
Night Nav and unlight location are a very good learning curve especially in the solent.

Andy Murray, the manager, went above and beyond, with service excellence, offering me exceptional, unique, personalised development and coaching, which I completed with Andy and Josh to further develop my knowledge, skills and confidence. I completed both my PB2 (Instructors: Ollie and Ramos) and PB Intermediate (Instructors: Andy and Trish) with Ocean Sports Tuition. We also completed a fantastic Axopar experience with Andrew, At first I was apprehensive and all the Instructors were extremely welcoming, patient and understanding (and offered refreshments).
