If you are interested in deepening your knowledge to a teaching standard and learning the skills to provide high quality training to inexperienced riders, this RYA PWC Instructor Course is for you! By the end of the course, you will be able to teach the RYA PWC Proficiency Course. If you aspire to crew on a superyacht, you will be pleased to know that the RYA PWC Instructor Course will also allow you to teach the RYA Introduction to PWC Safety Course, training for guests on superyacht charter holidays to ensure their competence and safety. 

The RYA PWC Instructor Course is a three-day training opportunity where you will be taught the skills to safety lead riders through the PWC Proficiency Course.

WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?

This course is suitable for students with a minimum of 2 years’ experience of driving personal watercraft. Students must also hold the RYA PWC Proficiency Course certificate prior to embarking on this course. The RYA PWC Instructor Course is a revised version of the PWC Proficiency Course adapted for teaching, so knowledge of this syllabus is vital. 

Students over the age of 16 can take part, and our experienced instructors are dedicated to ensuring that each student receives the resources to allow them to give in-depth safety and handling guidance to inexperienced riders. 

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

The RYA PWC Instructor Course is a revised version of the PWC Proficiency Course adapted for teaching. The course content is a great practical introduction to teaching, focusing on demonstrating how to instruct and debrief students, with an emphasis on safety and handling. The RYA PWC Instructor Course syllabus provides a comprehensive knowledge of teaching jetski handling and safety, and includes:

• Practical teaching skills
• Classroom teaching skills
• Debriefing
• Launching and recovery
• Essential safety information
• Riding and handling at low speed
• Riding and handling at high speed
• General manoeuvres
• Avoiding collisions
• Decision making
• Capsize recovery
• Passage planning

WHAT DOES THE COURSE COST?

The RYA PWC Instructor Course cost is £425 per person. This course will be taught in a group, with a maximum group size of 6 students on 3 jetskis. For the duration of the course, you will have the opportunity to work on a 1-2-1 basis with an instructor both on the water and in the classroom to consolidate your teaching skills.
