You have 2 ways to undertake this course, in your own time online or face-to-face with an Ocean Sports Tuition instructor at our classroom in Southampton.
SUMMARY
The RYA Day Skipper Theory Course is aimed at students who would like to be able to skipper a small boat in familiar waters by day and it will impart the theory knowledge to undertake this. This course works hand in hand with the Day Skipper practical course and is aimed at motor boaters, sailors and power boaters alike.
Our classroom training takes place at least once every other month at our purpose built facility in Saxon Wharf. Ocean Sports Tuition limits our student instructor ratio to 1:5, this gives all students more individual feedback and personal tuition.
The course is either run over five consecutive days from 9.00am to approx 5.30pm or alternatively over two and half weekends. All courses will be lead by your Ocean Sports Tuition shore based instructor. The added advantage of this form of training is the extra bits you gain from talking and chatting with an experienced boater.
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This course is suitable for all students. However if you have attended the RYA Essential Seamanship & Navigation Course or have been boating before you will get more out of the course.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
Topics covered will include – Basic seamanship, navigation, lights and shapes, weather and collision regulations. On completion of this course you will have the theoretical to navigate a small yacht around familiar waters by day.

This course is also available on a one-to-one basis, the cost of this is £1999.00.
