The RYA Day Skipper Theory Course is aimed at students who would like to be able to skipper a small boat in familiar waters by day and it will impart the theory knowledge to undertake this. This course works hand in hand with the Day Skipper practical course and is aimed at motor boaters, sailors and power boaters alike.
You now have two great ways to attend this course either online or face to face with your Ocean Sports Tuition instructor.
Our classroom training takes place once a month at our purpose built facility in Saxon Wharf. The cost of this training is £359 pp and this includes all course material, loan of RYA training almanac, dividers, plotter and full instructor support and feedback.
Ocean Sports Tuition limits our student instructor ratio to 1:6, this gives all students more individual feedback and personal tuition.
Do I need previous experience?
No – However if you have attended the RYA Basic Navigation course or have been boating before you will get more out of the course.
What will I learn?
Topics covered will include – Basic seamanship, navigation, lights and shapes, weather and collision regulations. On completion of this course you will have the theoretical to navigate a small yacht around familiar waters by day.
The course is run over five consecutive days from 9.30am to approx. 5.30pm and will be lead by your RYA Ocean Sports Shore based instructor. The added advantage of this form of training is the extra bits you gain from talking and chatting with an experienced boater.
