The RYA Day Skipper Theory Course is aimed at students who are looking to learn the theory knowledge in order to confidently skipper small boats in familiar waters by day. This course works hand-in-hand with the Day Skipper practical course and is designed for motor boaters, sailors and power boaters alike.
You can study, at your own pace, in the comfort of your home whilst also benefiting from full instructor support via email and phone. This interactive form of learning with animated teaching slides as well as scrolling lessons helps to bring the Day Skipper course to life. Do I need previous experience?
No – However you will get more out of the course if you have attended the RYA Basic Navigation course or have been boating before.
What will I learn?
Topics covered will include – Basic seamanship, navigation, lights and shapes, weather and collision regulations. On completion of this course you will have the theoretical knowledge to navigate small yachts around familiar waters by day.

Our online courses are delivered by Navathome, a RYA Recognised Training Centre specialising in online training. The online course registration last for 6 months. However, if you feel you need longer to complete the course there is a £30 charge to extend the course for an additional 6 months.
