Ocean Sports offers a complete Fast Track Programme to meet the needs of those wanting to acquire RYA qualifications over an intensive period. The Programme is both a cost effective and highly efficient way to receive quality tuition in an environment where you can build your skills quickly.
The total length of the Programme is 15 weeks which is divided into 3 distinct phases: Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper and Yacht master. The programmes can be tailored to your needs so you can do one or all three.

Day Skipper Phase
Is this the right course for me?
A 2 week course designed to acquire you your RYA Competent Crew and Day Skipper shore-based and practical qualifications.
Do I need previous experience?
No - this phase is aimed at complete beginners taking you from a competent crew up to Day skipper.
What will I learn?
You will complete the syllabus for the following three courses - please click on the links to view the course syllabus.
On completion of this phase you will be able to skipper a yacht, by day in familiar waters.
How long is the course and how many miles will I be able to log?
The course duration is two weeks. On completion of this course you will also have logged 200 miles.
How much is the course and what does it include?
The course cost £1200 per person and includes - moorings tuition, breakfasts, lunches and six evening meals whilst afloat.
Accommodation whilst shore based can be provided, this is a separate cost.

Coastal Skipper Phase
Is this the right course for me?
This six week phase is aimed at those students who want to obtain there RYA Coastal Skipper practical course completion certificate. It will also per pare you for your RYA Coastal skipper examination.
Do I need previous experience?
You should have the knowledge and experience to RYA Day Skipper practical and shore based level or equivalent.
What will I learn?
During this course you will complete your RYA Coastal skipper practical and shore based course, as well as your RYA sea survival, RYA First Aid and RYA diesel courses.
You will also undertake a two week mile building experience.
How long is the course and how many miles will I be able to log?
The course duration is six weeks, on completion of this phase you will have logged 900 miles.
How much is the course and what does it include?
The course costs £3250 per person and includes tuition, moorings, breakfasts, lunches and evening meals whilst afloat.
Shore based accommodation can be arranged for shore based course phase.
Additional fees - RYA Coastal skipper exam fee £140 - this may vary but was correct of October 2009.

Yachtmaster Phase
Is this the right course for me? This phase is aimed at students who want to obtain there RYA Yacht Master offshore qualification.
Do I need previous experience?
You should have the knowledge and experience to RYA Coastal Skipper practical and shore based level or equivalent and also have a VHF Radio Licence.
What will I learn? During this phase you will learn how to skipper a yacht in a variety of locations and by day and night. You will also attend the RYA radar course as well as mile building and undertake a self skipper phase.
How long is the course and how many mile will I be able to log?
The full course duration is seven weeks, on successful completion you will have logged 1800 miles.
How much is the course and what does it include? This course costs £3250 per person and includes all moorings, breakfasts, lunches and dinners whilst afloat.
Accommodation whilst ashore can be arranged for you, there is an additional charge for this.
Other additional costs include - RYA exam fees, this was £140 at time of publishing.
